GENERAL DESCRIPTION:     The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the Food Safety, Quality and Compliance of companies products and Quality Assurance programs. Manage and drive for continuous improvement the Quality validation and verification activities for company quality standards while meeting local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the development and execution of Quality Assurance programs and verification activities that ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including cGMP, HARPC, and HACCP.
  • Manage Document Control System for Department
  • Perform risk based assessments on new products, processes, ingredients, and packaging
  • Lead, enforce and participate in External, Internal and Supplier Audits.
  • Responsible for the Recall and Traceability programs for the facility
  • Day to day oversight of Quality Assurance and Quality Programs in the facility.
  • Identify, create, and implement Quality Assurance/Control policies and procedures, forms, work instructions and training.
  • Lead and develop staff for succession planning.
  • Ensure that all staff receives required cGMP, HACCP, Food Defense, Allergen and any other QA/Food Safety related trainings.
  • Coordinate delivery of COA documents to customers
  • Manage the sample retention program
  • Work with research and development to write specifications for new products
  • Responsible for communication of quality and food safety standards to plant personnel through training, corrective actions, quality and food safety audits, production monitoring and product evaluations.
  • Validate and verify quality and food safety systems to assure adherence to the food cGMP regulations, product specifications, regulatory compliance and Home Office objectives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to maintain cGMP compliance, improve product quality, production efficiency, and reduce finished product rejects/complaints.
  • Provide technical direction for compliance and continuous improvement of the quality management systems
  • Drive the bi-weekly Materials Review Meetings and Monthly Quality Management Review Meetings.
  • Assists, as needed, with FDA or other regulatory inspections.
  • Oversee the Final Review of Batch Records and Release of Finished Product according to Current Standard Operating procedures and GMPs.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Detailed knowledge and track record of successful implementation of food manufacturing policies and procedures (cGMP)
  • Certification and training in GFSI scheme, (HACCP) and/or HARPC (FSMA)
  • Proficient knowledge of HACCP and the proven ability to write HACCP plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, suppliers, and customers
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Acts with high integrity and honesty at all times.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Experienced and trained Manager for budgets, managing personnel and leading a Quality department.
  • BS degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Process Engineering, or Advance degree in Science related field
  • HACCP Certification is required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years QA management in a World Class Organization preferred
  • Proficiency with technology is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should be very proficient with Microsoft Excel and Outlook and be very comfortable with Windows-based computers in general.
  • Ability to speak, read and write both in the English & Spanish language is desirable.
