Manufacturing Engineer –CNC
 
We are a global supplier of forged and machined parts for aircraft engines. This opportunity is near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania   The Manufacturing Engineer will develop processes and provide continuous improvement  support in the cnc manufacturing of forgings, engine cases and rings for major aircraft engines. Our manufacturing utilizes CNC machining processes and high strength alloys.  In this role you will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes, designing some tooling, and learning to write programs for CNC machines such as 5-axis lathes and 5 axis machines. Direct hire.  Will assist with relocation expenses.
 
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
  • Encourage and maintain a safe work environment
  • Produce manufacturing processes with the utmost integrity and adherence to Quality policy
  • Support site initiatives for Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and productivity improvements
  • Support and meet development and production schedules, driving productivity, and quality initiatives, and manage the areas within budget guidelines and controls
  • Determine the proper manufacturing processes for assembly, machining, inspection, and test of required components 
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for improvement of product flow, cost, and First Time Yield (FTY)
  • Promote customer satisfaction and develop positive customer relationships
  • Provide direction, leadership, and technical support for production shop
  • Analyze technical drawings and data and offer configuration changes to enhance product manufacturability
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college  and 3-6 months CNC experience in a manufacturing environment as an intern 
  • Ability to learn to create CNC programs for 4-axis lathes and 5-axis machine centers using MasterCam or NX manufacturing package
  • Knowledge of CNC machining processes of high temperature nickel alloys utilized in aerospace engines
  • Strong understanding of the practical application and verification of GD&T
  • Ability to design tooling to support safety, quality and productivity objectives
  • Ability to manage projects in a team environment
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using NX software a plus, but not required
