Established health care company, provides telephonic advice services to Hospice patients. The Supervisor, Hospice Advice Nurses oversees the health care team who provides virtual care to patients via the telephone. The main accountabilities of this position include supervising a staff of RN Triage Nurses, performance management, and strategic staffing.  Additional duties may include:
  •  Team building, communication, budget administration, coaching/mentoring others, negotiation and conflict management. 
  • Taking lead in the hiring process, orientation and evaluation of all department staff.
  • Ensuring that all staff manages calls appropriately and that timely and consistent communication with Hospice sites is maintained at all times.  Utilizes and promotes use of excellent customer service skills when working with referral sources and site staff.
  • Occasionally triaging calls to the most appropriate level of care, providing symptom management advice and self-care intervention, consulting and referring, taking after-hour calls and performing nurse follow-up activities.
The ideal candidate for this role is one who has a passion for hospice care, is empathetic, and compassionate.  In addition to being a great listener, you must be a strong communicator, have the sense to know when to ask more or less questions and be respectful and professional in your clinical care telephone demeanor.  You must demonstrate and exercise independent and sound judgment to assist patients with complex and diverse issues effectively and efficiently.  Lastly, you will be required to utilize and navigate proficiently through an electronic health record; the ability to learn this technology will be required.
 
Minimum Requirements:
1.   Non-restricted board certified Registered Nurse (RN).  In addition, you must obtain and maintain a non-restricted California RN license through the Board of Registered Nurses.  Established health care company will pay for applicable fees for the initial licensing process.
2.   At least 3 years of clinical experience providing direct patient care.
3.   At least 3 years of leadership experience in an RN role; other leadership experience may be considered.
4.   At least 3 years of clinical experience in one of the following areas: advanced chronic illness, palliative care, hospice care (other home care based experience may be considered in lieu of hospice).
 
Preferred experience/skills:
1.    Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
2.    Knowledge of state and federal hospice and home health regulatory guidelines.
