Company is seeking an experienced engineer to focus on the application of high-precision navigation algorithms and technology to support military satellite programs. The opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team developing a state-of-art GN&C system from architecture conceptualization through release provides a tremendous opportunity for technical growth. The selected candidate will be expected to serve as a senior technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, and/or team leader. 
 Duties include:
  • Developing system concept/architecture trade studies and analysis of alternatives, modeling and simulation of vehicle system performance, system design, and creating systems engineering documentation
  • Performing technical tasks in the areas of concept development, trade studies, source selections, requirements analyses, risk assessments, design analyses, simulation development, test planning and participation, operations support, and anomaly resolution
  • Leading cross-organizational project teams and mentoring junior staff
  • Proactively identifying technical problems through the application of technical expertise and analysis, informing management and recommending courses of action while maintaining open lines of communication with customers and associate contractors
  • Coordinating interfaces between internal and external customers, technical staff, and management
  • Participating in contractor technical interchange meetings and reviews
  • Performing control system design, implementation, and/or testing for customers
  • Effectively communicating technical results both verbally and in writing
  • Representing the organization at technical meetings, presentations, and symposia
 
Required Qualifications: 
  • BS in an engineering discipline with 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Demonstrated foundational knowledge in core technologies (control theory/GNC, aerodynamics, actuation systems, electronics, embedded software) as well as proven experience integrating these core technical disciplines
  • Previous experience presenting complex technical ideas to a variety of target audiences
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: control system design and analysis, estimation theory, advanced dynamics
  • Knowledge of standard control analysis and simulation tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with program management, customers, contractors, and colleagues
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
  • Must have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance
  • Must be a US citizen
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of experience in team and/or technology leadership
  • Hands-on experience in project execution and in designing, developing, and validating real-time algorithms and software
  • Domain knowledge for GPS-denied navigation concepts and solution development
  • Previous experience with space situational awareness
  • Previous experience with rendezvous and proximity operations
  • Experience in one or more of the following: spacecraft attitude determination and control, payload pointing estimation and control, multibody and flexible body dynamics, modeling and simulation of spacecraft and payload control systems, calibration of spacecraft and payload control systems, stochastic processes and Kalman filtering, planning and conducting spacecraft control system testing, advanced control techniques and applications, and small satellite attitude determination and control design and operation.
  • An active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance or current SSBI (<4 years old)
