EE or Physics RF Communications Engineer - Satellites

We are seeking a senior-level RF communications engineer to work in on a variety of US military satellite programs. The selected candidate will act as a senior technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, and/or team leader and must have demonstrated technical leadership skills and subject matter expertise in spacecraft communications systems.

Duties include:
  • Design, analysis, simulation, and synthesis of spaced-based RF communications equipment from concept to realization
  • Lead cross-organizational project teams and mentor other staff
  • Proactively identify technical problems through the application of technical expertise and analysis
  • Inform management and recommend courses of action while maintaining open lines of communication with customers and associate contractors
  • Coordinate interfaces between internal and external customers, technical staff, and management
  • Participate in contractor technical interchange meetings and reviews
  • Develop new analysis tools and techniques and improve existing tools/techniques where possible
  • Represent the organization at technical meetings, presentations, and symposia
Required Qualifications:
·         BS in electrical engineering, physics, or an appropriate field.
·         Seven years of relevant RF communications experience in a satellite environment
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the design and development of space communications systems and related state of the market hardware capabilities
·         Expertise in one or more of the following:
o   Military communications waveforms, protocols and cyber security
o   Software-defined radios
o   Understanding of space environments and their impact on satellite communications
o   Electromagnetic theory and practices
o   Ad hoc and robust networking
o   Design of space-based hardware, particularly in a smallsat configuration
o   Space-based testing protocols and procedures
·         Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
·         Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently operate in a secure DoD environment
·         Knowledge of standard RF and microwave analysis and simulation tools
·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with program management, customers, contractors, and colleagues
·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers
·         Must have, or be able to obtain, a DoD  TS/TSI security clearance
·         Must be a US citizen
·         Must be able to travel occasionally to contractor and customer facilities
Preferred Qualifications:
·         MS in electrical engineering, physics or an appropriate field
·         Experience with DoD engineering policies and best practices
·         An active DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance or current SSBI (<4 years old)
